For some reason, things that are written poorly or ambiguously or that are formatted inconsistently jump to my eye like a crazy Balinese monkey.
I sat in a cafe yesterday and read the menu and I couldn’t tell you what was on the menu, but I can still tell you everything that was written incorrectly or just didn’t make sense. For me, the way you write (particularly on material that promotes your business) says a lot about your business and the way it operates.
However, when it comes to the use of the English language overseas, I am much more forgiving. I thought I’d share with you some photos I took of English-language signs whilst I was in Tokyo last year. You can click on the photo to see a larger image.
