Male nudity, then what?

Today’s Herald has an article about the increase of male nudity in films. Apparently we can look forward to more full frontal male nudity in the future. Ironically, less women are willing to go nude on film because of proliferation of these images on the internet forever and a day.

If full frontal male nudity becomes introduced, then tolerated, then accepted – what’s next? What’s the next ‘moral frontier’ to be conquered?

As I wrote about last year (’Is 2007 the year of enlightenment?‘), there’s a common argument that as time progresses, humanity will continue to advance. I’m not convinced. As time passes, we seem to be more depraved (or perhaps just have more avenues to express our depravity). What will act as the moral compass for Australian society? By what benchmark will we determine whether something is acceptable or not?

My fear is that without God as our compass, as the standard by which all activities as assessed, we will continue to slide down a very slippery slope.
